Crafting is a varied and useful skill which enables players to produce items such as jewellery, armour and pottery for use or trade. It was released on June 23 2012 during pre-alpha.

At level 40 Crafting, while wearing a brown apron obtained from the Varrock clothes store or for free from Malignius Mortifer, a player can enter the Crafting Guild.

Crafting can be divided into several categories which can be seen below.

Pottery[]

Pottery is the craft of turning Soft clay into pottery objects. Soft clay can be obtained either by mining Clay and using it with a water source, or mining with a Bracelet of clay, which will remove the need to add water. Once soft clay is obtained, it can be used on a Potter's wheel to make the object desired, which is then fired in a Pottery oven.

Leather (Armour, cowhides)[]

Studded body	41	40	Can be worn in the torso slot. Gives better ranged bonus than [Leather_body Leather body]
Studded chaps	44	42	Can be worn in the leg slot. Gives better ranged bonus than [Leather_chaps Leather chaps]

Studded leather items are made by smithing steel studs (level 36) and adding them to the completed leather item.

Note: 1 thread makes four pieces of armour.

Dragonhide is found by killing any type of dragon, the most common is green. Once you have obtained the desired dragonhide take it to a tanner to be tanned and then used a neede and thread on it.

The most common tools used in crafting are knives, needle and thread, moulds, etc. Pottery is the craft of turning Soft clay into pottery objects. Soft clay can be obtained by mining clay and using water on it.

Trivia[]

On the 14th of July during Pre alpha a person used duplicated items to get 99 crafting. For nearly 5 whole days he remained 1st on the highscores for crafting before on the 16th of that same month was removed and banned for his offences. So although some see illuminatus was the first to get 99 crafting, he cheated which caused the badge to be back up for grabs.
