Adamant equipment is a set of armour and weapons that is a tier higher than mithril, but lower than rune. It requires 30 defence to wear the armor and 30 attack to wield the weapons. It requires 70 Smithing to start making adamant daggers, and 88 smithing is required to make all adamant items. An adamant platebody is often used when you can't afford a rune chainbody or you have not done the quest for the rune plate body.
